Spring is almost here ......time to detox
Spring is a Great Time to Detox~
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is represented by the wood element and includes the liver and it's a complimentary organ the gallbladder. These are the two main organs primarily targeted for springtime cleansing. The liver is responsible for the smooth flow of qi (energy) throughout the body. When the liver is functioning well our physical and emotional activity flows better and therefore increases and optimizes our overall health.
Supporting your detoxification system is critical for good health. Cleansing is a great way to rejuvenate the body and help shake off the sluggishness of winter. A gentle cleanse can help to reboot the system and make sure your immune system stays healthy and strong as we transition seasons.
A healthy and supportive detox helps to reduce inflammation, regulate the immune system, improve gut health, and support a healthy metabolism.
A supportive detox program includes:
Drinking plenty of water and herbal teas throughout your cleanse
Avoiding processed foods, industrial seed oils, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, common food allergens (wheat, soy & dairy) and red meat (at least for a limited period)
Adding plenty of bright seasonal spring vegetables, bitter greens, earthy roots, as well as broths and lighter proteins to support liver function
Supporting your body with nourishing supplements if needed
Getting good quality rest & gentle non-taxing exercise & movement
Utilizing acupuncture, qigong, and mindful practices to support the smooth flow of qi in the body, mind, and spirit
I suggest drinking at least 3 glasses of freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable Juices.
