Celebration of the Ancestors
We celebrate and give homage to the men and women who served in the military during battles and wars. This is very important for us as a nation. However, it’s very necessary in my opinion to honor those men and women who gave their life and do not have a name or a tombstone.
It is important and necessary to remember their deeds and sacrifices. On Sunday, May 31, 2009, the IIASK Inc. hosted a celebration for those ancestors…
who died from warfare,
who died at birth,
who died prematurely,
who died at the hands of loved ones,
who were murdered in the name of freedom,
ancestors who died during the enslavement of Africans around the world,
and the spirits of those who chose to jump into the sea instead of remaining enslaved.
We honor the memory of all members of the Holocaust. We also give homage to our very first ancestors from the beginning of our collective and individual histories.
It is very affirming to give honor to the men, women and children who have aided, and influenced us, even if they just briefly touched our lives. When we celebrate our ancestors, they continue to live inside us, and so shall you live on in the memories of those you love and support today.
May you live forever.
